"You get to the point where you evolve in your life where everything isn’t black and white, good and bad, and you try to do the right thing. You might not like that. You might be very cynical about that. Well, f—- it, I don’t care what you think. I’m trying to do the right thing."

New York Giants Super Bowl hero David Tyree warns of 'anarchy' if gay marriage is legalized →

Athletes and sports figures everywhere, including Giants legend Michael Strahan and Giants co-owner Steve Tisch, have been coming out strongly in support of gay marriage legislation over the last few weeks. David Tyree, one of the heroes of Super Bowl XLII, is speaking out for the other side. In a video produced for the National Organization for Marriage, Tyree warned of “anarchy” in the United States if homosexuals are allowed to legally marry. While the New York State Assembly was approving a same-sex marriage bill yesterday, the 31-year-old former Pro Bowler insisted same-sex couples couldn’t properly raise a child, and added he’s “disappointed” more people haven’t spoken up against it. “If they pass this gay marriage bill, what I know will happen is this will be the beginning of our country sliding toward … it’s a strong word, but, anarchy,” Tyree said. “That will be the moment itself where our country loses its grip with what’s right. Marriage is one of those things that is the backbone of society. So if you redefine it, it changes the way we educate our children, it changes the perception of what is good, what is right, what is just.”

Human Rights Campaign: Call Your NY State Senator Today! →

All New Yorkers should be able to marry the person they love and to share that commitment with their friends and family members. Now is the time to end discrimination against same-sex couples and to treat ALL families in New York with the same dignity and respect. Same-sex couples pay the same taxes, follow the same laws and should have the same access to a civil marriage license. New York legislators will soon consider this issue again. Please call your state senator today and urge them to support equality for all New Yorkers!

Bloomberg Headed to Albany to Push Gay Marriage Bill - NYTimes.com →

It was Mr. Bloomberg who requested the 10:30 am meeting Thursday, the person briefed on the matter said, to make his case for why New York should become the sixth and largest state in the country to allow gay couples to wed. He is expected to argue that it is consistent with Republican principles of limited government, personal liberty and strong families. Mr. Bloomberg, a Republican turned independent who rarely spoke out about gay weddings during the first half of his mayoralty, has emerged as a passionate spokesman for gay marriage this year. He delivered an uncharacteristically personal speech on the topic, held a fund-raiser for the cause and went to Albany two weeks ago to lobby Republicans to pass the measure. Mr. Bloomberg’s views may hold special weight with Republican senators, because he ranks among the biggest campaign donors to the state party in recent years.

Politics slows gay marriage vote in New York - Forbes.com →

The legalization of gay marriage in New York now falls squarely on the shoulders of Republican state senators under intense political pressure from the important Conservative Party and internal polling that shows growing, but not necessarily majority, support for same-sex marriage. They know that not just the national gay marriage movement, but their own careers, may hinge on their vote.
