Well done, sir.

Mayor of Newark, New Jersey’s impressive response to marriage equality
After Obama endorsed gay marriage, Cory Booker, Mayor of Newark, New Jersey, reposted a video showing his response to a question about marriage equality.
I rejoice in President Obama’s announcement. But, let us all who believe in equality continue to labor in the cause. We still live in a nation where there are hundreds and hundreds of laws that deny gay Americans the same rights and privileges that straight Americans enjoy. And especially here in New Jersey, it is time for us to treat all of our citizens equally under the law and make marriage equality happen.

I have a couple gay friends, and theyre great guys. So when they asked me if Id like to be apart of a photoshoot for gay rights, as a straight guy I said yeah.
Because I think you have to do any little thing other than just saying you support gay rights to actually support them. And if that means painting an equal sign on my stomach and taking a few pictures to help out some of my gay friends, then of course I will.
(I heard the phrase ‘heteros for homos’ tonight for the first time, I thought it was funny ha)
Straight people dont realize how important their support is to the gay community.

I just like this one ha

“There are people who have said that I’m being brave for being openly supportive of gay marriage, gay adoption, basically of gay rights but with all due respect I humbly dissent, I’m not being brave, I’m being a decent human being. And I don’t think I should receive an award for that or for merely stating what I believe to be true, that love is a human experience not a political statement. However, I acknowledge that sadly we live in a world where not everybody feels the same. My family and I will help the good fight continue until that long awaited moment arrives, when our rights are equal and when the political limits on love have been smashed.”
